The Objective of our Project

Posted on March 30, 2011. Filed under: JISC Events and Meetings, News and Updates | Tags: , |

The main objective of the JISC Alumni Link project at the University of Hertfordshire is to improve the relationship building approach between the University and its alumni, specifically by using web technologies to actively develop subject specific professional communities that bring together undergraduates, recent graduates andalumni to network and create employment and skills development opportunities. The project recognizes that alumni management is not an afterthought to graduation, but a natural continuation to effectively managing the lifecycle of the relationship between students and the institution. In this understanding, alumni management needs to start gradually at undergraduate level, with a focus on creating value for alumni, so they will reengage with the university over a long period of time and make contributions that go beyond the financial, such as acting as ambassadors for the institution; acting as catalysts and facilitators of new, productive institutional relationships with business and communities; and providing employment and entrepreneurial opportunities to the wider community.
